How Much Should I Pay for a Decent Guitar?

How Much Should I Pay for a Decent Guitar?

If you're wondering how much to spend on a guitar, you're not alone—it’s one of the most common questions we hear at Guitar Warehouse, our specialist guitar shop in North Wales. Whether you're just starting out or upgrading your setup, we're here to help you make the right choice.

There’s no one-size-fits-all answer, but here's a general guide based on experience level:

  • £100–£250: Great for beginner guitars

  • £250–£600: Ideal for intermediate guitar players

  • £600+: Suitable for advanced musicians

  • £2000+: Premium guitars for serious players or collectors

For beginners, we recommend starting with something in the £100–£250 range. The key is comfort and playability—a guitar with low action (meaning it’s easy to press the strings) will make learning more enjoyable and less frustrating. You'll also feel more confident pulling it out of the case and playing without worry.

Moving into the intermediate range, you’ll notice big improvements in tone quality, build, and features. Even at the lower end of this bracket, many intermediate guitars offer excellent value with great sound and feel.

Of course, you can spend as much as you like on your first guitar—but you don’t need to break the bank. At Guitar Warehouse, we only stock guitars that are easy to play, well-built, and great value for money. If it’s not good enough for us, it’s not on our wall.

Whether you’re looking for your first, second, or third guitar, we’ve got you covered. We offer expert advice, friendly service, and a wide range of acoustic and electric guitars in-store and online.
